A sign of a true 'Asian'

Hi everyone!

Lady told me about the tremendous awards that I got...thank you SOOO much! I am really honored. I was told that these awards needed passing, but there are so many doggies who already have it, so I don't know who to pass it to! If you haven't got one, my dear friend, please do let me know, and I'll gladly pass it on to you! *grins*

And it's really cool to hear all the lovely comments on Lady's post! Rest assured, she will be back, coz she said she has gotten a bit addicted to it as well! *wink*

Okay...back to the business of the day. This is going to be the longest post that I have so far, so please bear with me! *smiles innocently* What does it take to be truly an 'Asian' dog? Mom says it's the 'King of the Fruits' test! What is the King of Fruits, you say? A little Googling got me these answers:

  • Durian, is often called 'The 'King of fruits' by fruit aficionados. This large, heavy fruit has a thick thorny outer skin. When ripe, the pulpy fruit inside the durian pods taste like butterscotch, cream caramel or banana custard. The smell of durian is unmistakable, the first thing you will notice. It either doesn't bother you at all, or otherwise. This is one tropical fruit, once savored, you will absolutely love forever, or the opposite.
  • A large fruit from southeast Asia that has a creamy, gelatinous texture and a nauseating smell similar to that of stinky feet. The flesh is savored by many from this area, but outsiders find it a difficult flavor to become accustomed.

If you can guess, the first definition is from an Asian food glossary, while the other is a culinary dictionary from the West. Not to prejudice the Western doggies, but Mom says this fruit needs an acquired taste to truly enjoy it. If you get a chance to try it, I do urge you to...then you will know if you are truly 'Asian'. *winks*

Gramma bought loads and LOADS of this fruit two days ago, and we have been feasting until now...can you imagine that? Here are the pictures to prove it (it will be very long...you have been warned!)

The sack which contains all the fruits in it! I can smell it a mile away...o.O

A little sneak peek at what's inside...

And behold! The durian in all its' glory!

Mom made me pose next to it....eep! I was nervous about those prickly thorns...

Checking out what's the big hype about...

Gramma giving those durians a big 'slaughter'...it needs a lot of work,it seems! Mom is hopeless at getting them open!

Lookie at what's inside! Don't they look yellow and creamy? *licks lips*

The result of all the 'slaughter'..

Me getting a sneak taste of the King of Fruits...and my verdict?? FOUR PAWS out!

Kenji getting a taste too....he didn't seem to like it though! Awww...

After a few licks, he refused to try some more...more for me,I guess! *grins*

Let's see if Lady likes it as much....from the smile, I guess you can tell, no?

Mom couldn't capture the pictures fast enough...it disappeared just when she clicked! o.O" Lady really knows how to enjoy her durian!

Me, I just can't wait for another taste! Yet, she makes me.....grrr!

Mmmm....yummy, yummy fruit!

One more, Mom! PLEASE!!! *gives puppy eyes*

YAYYY! Score another!

The seed of the durian...apparently we're not supposed to eat it, but I gave it some chews anyway! Heh! See the bite marks on it? I refused to let Mom take it away from me...made her chase me quite a bit before she wrenches it from my jaws. She has no sense of humour at all...=P

I love this so much, that my tongue became 'Phantom Tongue'...darted in and out so fast you can hardly see it! That's how good it is....*licks lips* What can I say? I guess I am really an 'Asian' doggie...hee!

xoxo,
Scottie

Those things are HUGE! I don't get all this hype about fruit though. My mom loves it, but I prefer meat!

I think I'd try to chase the durian around like a big ball!

I react to watermelon the same way you do to the dorian....so I know I'd love it if I had a taste!

I saw this fruit on the travel channel. I bet I'd like it because I like all fruits but I don't think my girl would like it at all. Good reporting, Scottie.

Hey, Scottie, Thanks for coming by. It's nice to meet you.

The NOMS Day picnic is open to all furries, so you don't have to miss it. Just pop over to Alasandra & the Cats and help yourself to some good eats. Crystal popped his back dancing, so he's resting but the rest of us are going strong. Come on by.
