My Chinese New Year week

Hello everyone!

Sorry for being silent...yet again! I can't believe I only blogged TWO miserable posts for the whole month of January! *pouts* Mom needs some serious talking to, I say! I haven't been able to visit many of my pals' bloggies too...I do hope her big assignment gets done real quick, coz it's bugging me BIG TIME!

Anyways, Happy Chinese New Year (CNY) to all my friends who are celebrating it! Celebrations last for 15 days in the Chinese calendar, according to Gramma, so it's not too late just yet...heh! *wink* We went back to Gramma and Grampa's hometown in Seremban for the reunion dinner, which is actually just about an hour's drive from our home...but it was quite eventful to say the least! Be prepared for a LONG post...*grins* I'm making up for the many days of silence...hehe!

We reached in the late afternoon at Gramma's Mom's house....'scuse the shaggy look. Mom didn't have time to send me to the groomers yet.

I hope you haven't forgotten how I looked like...*wink*

We brought Colin back too...he was SOOO excited to be in a car, travelling and all, he's like this bumbling ball of energy!

Kenji however, didn't fare too well...he had a bit of motion sickness and after that, he fell under the weather the whole time we were there. =( Poor Kenji! But he's feeling better now...

Well, the first few hours all we did was laze around as all the relatives start coming in and arranging the table for the dinner...Mom didn't get to spend much time with us too coz she was helping out a little.

One of Mom's uncles brought along this shisha (or better known as the hookah) to pass the time...Mom doesn't smoke, but she likes the design of the shisha pipe. It looks kind of pretty, don't you think? (Except for the fact that it's still smoking!)

Here's what they use for the pipe...coal, and tobacco. Check out the strawberry-flavoured tobacco on the left. It really does emit a strawberry flavour when smoked. Weird!

After setting up, they waited for the rest of the relatives to arrive, so Mom took the opportunity to let Colin be a model for a while! Hehe...he's VERY obliging! *wink*:

They're STILL waiting after all that, and I got bored, so Mom and aunty Vivian took me for a walk around the neighbourhood...and guess what I spotted?

Chickens!! Live chickens at that too...cool!

I followed them around for a while, but Mom made me keep a safe distance...she didn't want me to hurt them and vice versa. Pfft! Why would I hurt a chicken?

Tired of all the chicken talk, aunty Vivian tried to make ME a model too! Don't I look fabulous next to this cool green hedge? *grins*

Finally, the whole family got together and the feasting at the infamous mile-long table begins!

While everyone was busy feasting, enjoying themselves...

...AND the occasional goofing around....

I had to stay outside! *pouts* The feast lasted well into the evening, so it's quite disheartening to hear all the chopsticks clinking against the porcelain bowls and I got nothing =( Oh well...Mom discovered the scary laser eye thingy! LOL! She hasn't been able to take photos of me with the laser eye thingy before even though she saw so many of my friends' photos have them (and was seriously baffled for a while). But I guess she found out the secret: flash!

Look! Even Colin got the scary laser eyes...heh!

A photo of the outside of Gramma's Mom's house...I like the decorations and the lights put up there. They're mostly hand-made by Gramma's Dad. I think they're AWESOME! Can you spot me in this photo? *wink*

The next two days were not that spectacular...more of the same people visiting, handing out red packets (which I didn't get! *pouts*), feasting, chatting, more feasting...you get the picture. Mom didn't have time to take photos coz there were just too many people. o.O" The day we're about to leave though, is another story...

Look at these chickens! Okay, I guess the photo doesn't do them justice, but I have to say...THEY'RE SUPER DUPER HUGEEEEE!!

And super fat too! Gramma said they weigh about 4-5kg each! o.O" That's freaky...they weigh almost as heavy as me!

This is Gramma's Dad...he's super cool! He reared these chickens for the sole purpose of CNY feastings...as you can see, they're almost as big as him!

I got to say hello to them for a bit before they uhh...become dinner. A bit nervous walking and looking at this strange, fat chicken. I've never seen any so up close and personal!

Nearer and nearer...but the next second, it almost bit me! By gosh, it was shocking...and I barked my lungs out at it for a while. Lucky Mom had me on my leash, or I think it would have been a blood bath there...LOL! No photos of THAT encounter...too fast for Mom's slow action camera. =\

Well, that's about it for now...I've got more tales to tell, but this is getting too long. Tune in for the next episode of 'My CNY Week'! *wink* Hope you all had a great CNY celebration too!

xoxo,
Scottie

Wow Scottie..

Now that feast was somethin' ta behold....so much food there how did ya eat it all? Yer little son Colin is just soooo cute....are ya keepin' 'em or just watchin' 'em til a good home comes along?

Yeah, it's too bad about those chickens....it's hard ta raise somethin' then have it fer dinner later....my Grandma Judy raised a bull and they just sent 'em ta the butcher last weekend....poor Goliath....he'll be some pretty good steaks in the very near future......my cousin Goliath...starin' at us at the dinner table.....oh boy !!!!
