Hello everyone!
I'm so excited, coz I get to feast on some yummy chicken yesterday! Well, I think Mom is more excited than I am...after about 2 months of reading about raw feeding, joining a raw feeding list, and especially reading about it from Stanislaw and Fenway, Mom has finally took the plunge to feed me raw food!
I was so curious the other day when Mom came home lugging a few bags that seem heavy after she left me and Kenji at home. Not only that, she and Gramma started opening the bags and I hear lots of chopping and bagging (I couldn't see as Mom put me and Kenji in our playpen). Of course, she couldn't stop us from smelling, and Kenji and I made quite some noise!
Yesterday, however...I knew I am getting something different. Mom went to the fridge and took out a bag, and put it in my bowl. I got to eat outside too, which was a first!
I didn't quite get how to eat this chicken though. It was so different from my kibble that I was used to (and always inhaled in a few seconds!). After licking it for a few seconds to get a taste of it, I took it out of my bowl to continue...
After a while, I got the hang of it and took my time in savouring the meatiness of it all...yumm! It took me about 20 minutes to finish this big chunk of meat...*grins* I took my time in chewing up the meat and bones. Gramma couldn't stand the sound of the bones crunching though...LOL!
Mom didn't take any photos of me finishing my chicken, coz I didn't want her to! She keep hovering over me to check (see what I mean when I said she's more excited?) that I kept looking at her and refused to eat until she sat further away, letting me have my space. Heh!
All in all, I can definitely see me eating more raw food too! Thanks Stan for all the information on your blog about raw feasting! It sure made my day, and I'm looking forward to more of it! Hopefully soon I'll be able to get lots of other meat to feast on!
xoxo,
Scottie

You ate chicken bones? Really?
Well, we don't follow fads 'round here--we eat a combination of kibble, meat, de-boned chicken, veggies, cheese--but never, in a million years--chicken bones.
Unless lots of stuff has changed (and maybe it has, evolution bein' what it is) chicken bones splinter into little sharp pieces that can do some serious damage to canine insides.
Sure they can say that's how dogs ate in the wild, but they can't say how many died from it.
Bon Appetit Scottie
That looks delicious..hope you keep enjoying youw new diet and getting supew healthy

Hooray! I LOVE crunching bones! And as long as they're nice and fresh and raw you'll be fine with them. And it's good that mom hovers while you eat - we're never allowed to feast unattended either. Just wait... your teeth will be sparkling white and you'll be feeling wonderful!
Happy feasting!
You sure look like you're enjoying that chicken, Scottie. You make me hungry!
Wow - raw chicken and the bone. Not sure if my pawrents could cary that in their training bag?? keep us posted fella.

Nice work on that chicken leg. I also didn't know what I was supposed to do with that first hunk o' raw meat. I picked it up, dropped it on the floor and barked at it. I even tried to play with it. But suddenly....bingo! A light went off and I realized I had the MOST delicious dinner.
Have fun raw feasting. I'm sure you make all sorts of great sounds when you're crunching the bones. Your teeth will be spotless in no time!
I also get a capsule of Omega 3 fish oil with every meal...mom buys the human stuff.
Your pal,
Fenway
Dear Scottie
Our mum has been feeding a natural diet to us and our doggie family in heaven for a very long time. She uses ideas of Dr Pitcairn and Dr Billinghurst and her own experience. We have lots of raw bones esp chicken and mum cooks us stews coz we don't like pulped raw vegies and we eat free range eggs and lots of nice stuff. Mum buys us organic dog biscuits too. Our horses eat a natural diet too. It promotes a very healthy immune system to keep us well.
I'm pleased you like your raw bones.

Dear Scottie
I did not want your mum to worry about Harrison's post. You must never eat COOKED chicken bones. These are the ones that can splinter inside your tummie. The raw chicken bones are good for you. Hobson, Rose and me eat raw chicken wings, necks and drumsticks and whole chicken carcasses.

Hi Scottie,
I don't get to eat raw chicken bones.. But I do get to eat raw Ox tail and air-dried kangaroo backbone. Want some?

Hi Scottie, thanks for visiting my blog. My mom says you're the cutest scottie she's ever seen.
My mom and dad tried giving me some raw meat a few times and I wouldn't eat it. I guess I prefer my meat cooked. lol

That is so interesting! Please keep us posted!
My parents periodically feed me raw diet but I get tired of foods quickly (they say I am spoiled) but mom makes my food from slightly cooked meat, rice or barely and lots of veggies. She changes the mix everytime she makes a batch so I don't get bored...but I NEVER tire of raw beef rib bones! Enjoy your new diet.
